Mama is in Town :)

My mom surprised me at the beginning of the week and said that she had a bunch of time off and wanted to visit me.  Of course I was super excited and thrilled that I was going to be able to see her. Being far away from home, I rarely get to see my family so I am so, so, so happy that she is finally here!!

My Wonderful Mom :)
 I made her pose for a picture...she's a trooper!

As for the recap of my past few days, I have been crazy busy with school work and feel like I have finally gotten back on track with balancing school and life!  It is such a huge relief which came after I talked to my dad yesterday.  I realized that I have been putting a lot of pressure on myself with training for a marathon and staying on top of school work.  Training for the marathon started turning into a chore, rather then my passion and amazing, healthy stress reliever!  So, after talking it over with my dad I decided to put the marathon training on hold and the half marathon maybe in my future instead (its still up in the air though)! I instantly felt better and decided to go on a 9 mile run just for the heck of it...strange how fast I turned my running slump around :)

Today, started off pretty normal with a little extra added cleaning and a little more school work in the morning (so I can have more time with mom)! I had an awesome lunch of leftovers from Tuesday night's dinner at Triangle.  Triangle is an amazing restaurant that serves grass-fed beef that apparently has more Omega-3s than regular beef (or so the commercials say)! Triangle has a huge menu with many delicious choices including a shrimp and grits sushi roll!  I opted for a turkey burger with avocado, tomato, onions and a side of sweet potato fries with apple butter (I wanted beef but was craving avocado, so had to get the turkey).  I can't believe how long it took me to try Triangle, but it was definitely worth the wait!

The extra bonus of my lunch was a butterscotch cupcake from Cupcake.  As I was in the library this afternoon, a girl was coming around with a box of cupcakes and I was definitely not going to pass the opportunity for a free cupcake! I mean come on thats just torture to say no, I took it as a sign I had to have the extra sweet in my day :)

Before my mom got in, I decided to squeeze in a bodystep class! I have never taken a bodystep class, let alone any step class or class that requires any coordination, needless to say I looked like quite the mess.  I'm so thankful I didn't know anyone in the class, because I was definitely an entertaining show to watch!  I was jumping and tripping when the others were clapping and stepping (I was pretty lost haha)!!  But all and all it was a really fun experience and if I can handle the humiliation again I will definitely be back!

As soon as I was done with my workout, I stopped at the grocery to pick up stuff to go with Maryann's homemade tomato sauce for dinner tonight.  Maryann is Paige's mom so basically my second mom, and also hands down the best tomato sauce maker in the world.  My mom stopped by to visit them before coming to see me.  Maryann gave her some of her out of this world sauce, so I was even more excited to see mom (a little added bonus). I wish I had a picture of our delicious dinner which consisted of spaghetti and sauce with a side salad and homemade garlic bread...but we devoured it before I had a chance!

But I will leave you with my favorite treat that my mom brought me...

Peanut Butter+Pretzels=AWESOME :)
